Atopy

What is atopy?

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, recurrent inflammatory skin disease that usually begins in infancy or childhood, accompanied by pruritus (itch), dry skin, and characteristic eczema. In infancy, it begins with eczema on the stretched side of the face and limbs, but as it grows, it is characteristic of eczema in the flexion of the arms and behind the knee, and in many cases it tends to improve naturally as it grows. .In adults, the skin becomes thicker in lichenification when the skin is folded, and eczema is more common on the face than in infants.Atopic dermatitis is on the rise worldwide, with a prevalence rate of 20% of the population.

Atopic Dermatitis Symptoms

Severe pruritus (itching), dry skin, and skin lesions are the main symptoms.Drying of the skin causes itching and weakening.

Itching intermittently during the day, usually worsening in the early evening or midnight. Itching and scratching leads to eczema skin lesions (pathologicization), and as these lesions progress, a vicious cycle of more severe itching occurs. The distribution and response patterns of skin lesions vary somewhat depending on the patient's history.

Infants often have acute eczema with rashes or crusts, usually on the face and head, coarse and dry on the outside of the limbs. In children between 2 and 10 years of age, they often appear on the folds of the limbs and on the folds of the neck rather than on the face and appear in the form of dry eczema. Asians, on the other hand, may have severe nipple eczema that does not heal well after teens.

Life Guide

Atopic dermatitisis important to find and remove the weakening factors from the environment and lifestyle. Commonly known to weaken atopic dermatitis include rapid temperature and humidity changes, psychological stress, wool or nylon clothing, detergents and soaps. Therefore, when you take a bath, be sure to remove enough soap, and after washing it is good to rinse well to leave no detergent. Clothing made of wool or nylon should be avoided whenever possible. If you are sensitive to house dust mites, pollen, or animal hair, avoid pets or carpets.

Atopic dermatitis, on the other hand, is very important because the skin is dry. Apply moisturizers as often as possible to keep your skin from drying out. A simple bath can dry out your skin, so make sure that it is adequately moisturized and remove any sweat, allergens, dirt or dust mites that can irritate your skin. Bath water is lukewarm. If it's too hot, it can be itchy and pushing it can irritate your skin, making it itchy and dry. Gently press to dry after bathing. Use petroleum jelly or oil within 3 minutes of bathing to keep it dry, and you can use soap, but use a mild soap and choose a soapy solution. A tub bath is better than a shower. Avoid saunas because they can dry out your skin and make itching more intense.
